Becki I know how you feel. I lost the closest friend I ever had 2 years ago. I can't put into words how close I was to this dog. When he died I felt like someone ripped out my chest. There was just an empty hole in my body where my chest was. I can tell you that time does heal the lost feeling. I still miss him so much but the pain is now gone. Now our other dog Dusty has DM and we will lose him as well. I truely don't know how I will make it through this. This dog just plain loves to be loved and pet and kissed. He follows me everywhere and has gone to work with me for 2 years now. I won't let him suffer needlessly but don't want to let him go. When the time comes I know what I will have to do. I pray that the time will pass slowly and he will not be in pain. I see that your post was 2 months ago and I hope you are feeling better now. All my best wishes to you and to everyone who has to face this heartbreaking problem in there life. I know that we will be together with our beloved pets again in the eternities.

Comments: Our dog was just found to have DM this week. We are devistated and feeling very sad. We are looking for information and help anywhere we can. We feel helpless and very sad. I know others must have felt what we are feeling now. We lost our other dog two years ago and now we will lose this one. I don't know what we will do.

Comments: My German Shepherd is suspected of having DM. Both vets i have seen do not want to do the Myleogram as they fear it will progress the disease in this case. It is evident by X-rays and exams that he does not have other spinal issues. He has already lost 50% mobility in one leg and the other is rapidly following. He can run but without falling and already has torn a tendon in his leg. He cannot turn without laying down his hind end. I am not sure what to do about this and would love to hear any advice. Living in Alaska I do not have the option of doing an MRI and I do not want to stress him with more tests that I know are only going confirm his DM...there is no doubt in my mind that DM is what is affecting him. His signs are all too clinical.
Your web site has been an insperation but it is still so confusing and I am feeling a bit overwelmed and not sure which action to take. The specilist I seen was very discouraging about Dr. Clemmings and I was a little shot down by that. My current Vet believes in Holistic health and she is very interested to hear what Clemmins has to say.
Thank you again for providing the information you do and if you ever can give private advice I would love to hear from you.
Tammy

Comments: My dog was just diagnosed w/ DM this a.m. The vet did not tell me it was fatal. Thanks for educating me on what to expect in the next year. It's never easy, but at least now I know what I'll have to do. Victoria Anne turned 10 this year.

Comments: Today was the day I let my Joelle go after a 3 year history of DM. She is happily running and playing now although my heart is broken. Having friends who love Joelle as much as I do has helped me through her passing. For a boxer, Joelle experienced a long life even though she was afflicted with DM. I wouldn't exchange any of our lives together for anything in this world. My friend Laurie and I took 3 rolls of pictures, digital scapshots and videos of her. She will always be remembered from 8/15/94-4/6/05.

Comments: What a beautiful memorial to your dear Jack Flash. The heartache of losing your precious boy to a progressively degenerative disease is so painful. I am going through it now and it hurts so terribly. I only pray the Lord will give me the strength to get through this and that He will help my precious Dino to not suffer terribly too. God bless and thank you for your website.
